Hackney Singers has 2 emailing lists (yahoo groups.)
HSMembers (HSM) is for choir business. Only members of the committee can use it and only for choir business. This group is moderated by the Chair (currently Sheila Ebbutt) and is limited to paid-up members of the choir.
HSotherinformation (HSO) is for members’ own use and anyone in that group can send to all the
other members by adding it to their e-address list. This group is currently moderated by Wendy
Saville and includes many past members of the choir, who like to keep in touch. We use this to
pass on information about music and other performances; to offer goods and services; to request
help or pass on local news. There are approximately 250 people on the HSO list.
Hackney Singers is a registered charity and as such it is important that no political views are
expressed that could be construed to represent the views of the organisation itself. So we cannot
accept any overtly political or partisan information on HSO. Avoiding such material also avoids
causing offence to others with different views.
When you send an email via HSO, your own e-address is revealed and so people can reply directly
to you or you can reply directly to others. Wendy is also events@hackneysingers, and monitors
musical and other info that is sent to ‘events’ or directly to her and forwards any that may be of
interest to members.
